Darrick Penny is a professional actor and singer based in New York City. A legit bass-baritone, his voice combines the power of Brian Stokes Mitchell and the versatility of Joshua Henry. Darrick has a soft spot for the Golden Age of musical theatre, but he's equally adept at performing contemporary work.
He has appeared on professional stages across the United States where favorite roles include Coalhouse Walker Jr. in Ragtime, Tom Collins in RENT directed by Adam Pascal, the titular role in Sweeney Todd, Guy / Ledge in the world premiere of Another Roll of the Dice, Reverend Hightower / Mrs. Taylor in Batboy, and Moises Kaufman / Russell Henderson in The Laramie Project: 10 Years Later.
Darrick earned his Master of Fine Arts in Acting from Florida Atlantic University and his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Elon University's prestigious Musical Theatre program.
He is proudly a father of a baby girl - Dawsyn - and enjoys watching her grow and learn on a daily basis. Darrick lives with his wife in New York City, Astoria specifically, and would be proud to open his own theatre one day.
